The Responsibility Project

Submitted by on September 2, 2008 – 3:20 amNo Comment

I was honored when Mom Central gave me the chance to be a part of their Responsibility Project Blog Tour. Liberty Mutual came up with the idea for The Responsibility Project and it is one of the best ideas I have come across in a long time.

Taken from The Responsibility Project website, how this wonderful idea got started:
“It all began when we ran a TV commercial about people doing things for strangers. The response was truly overwhelming. Thousands of emails and letters from people all over the country thanking us.

We thought, if one TV spot from Liberty Mutual can get people thinking and talking about responsibility, imagine what could happen if we went a step further? So we created a series of short films, and this website, as an exploration of what it means to do the right thing.

We believe that the more people think and talk about responsibility, and even debate what it means, the more it can affect how we live our daily lives. And perhaps, in this small way, together, we can make the world just a little better.”

We all have different things come to mind when we think of responsibility and one of the big challenges as a parent is trying to teach your children responsibility in everything they do. This site really helped me to sit down with my 8 year old and talk about responsibility.

We enjoyed watching Dinner for Two, which showed that it is always better to share. We also enjoyed The Lighthouse that shows how it is good for people to come together to help those in need.

I highly encourage you to check out The Responsibility Project with your child and enjoy the little conversations that will spring up from the movies, take that time to talk with your child about responsibility. We all have to have it in our lives.
