Oreck Halo: Review and Giveaway

THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED!
Oreck

I was recently contacted and asked to review the Oreck Halo, I did not hesitate to say yes. When my UPS Man brought my box, I got so excited I tore right into it. And it could not have come at a better time. My floor was a mess.

The Oreck Halo was absolutely beautiful. Blue and Black it reminded me of a space ship for some reason, it really is easy on the eyes and those who know me know I prefer things that work well as well as look pretty. It was very easy to assemble which is a plus for me because I am not very assemble savvy. All to do was connect two connector, snap and then screw the handle in place and put the attachments in their home. So I had it together in less than 5 minutes.

The patented Oreck Halo light chamber kills many microscopic germs, bacteria, viruses, mold, dust mite eggs, and flea eggs using UV-C light. This is the same ultraviolet light technology used to purify water and help filter the air in hospitals! With most American’s still following the “10 second rule” don’t you want to make sure you aren’t eating those viruses and dust mites or feeding them to your children?

The Oreck Halo has two high-powered motors. One drives the “brush roll” that fluffs the carpet’s nap while the other delivers maximum suction and pickup, which means the dirt and germs it kills are quickly trapped inside the HEPA 13 filter bag for safe removal. The bag is so tightly woven that dead germs stay inside, and Oreck’s patented Sani-Seal tab prevents them from escaping when emptied (this impressed me so very much). An ordinary vacuum may pick up some germs, but they may still be alive inside the bag or canister. When emptied, it’s possible those germs are transported from one part of the house to another.

Okay now that alone is reason enough for me to say I love Oreck. Let me share a few home hygiene facts (taken from the press release I received)that will show you exactly why you want the Oreck Halo:
- There can be more germs on household floor surfaces than on toilet seats, kitchen counters and bathroom tiles combined. (Source: Dr. Charles P. Gerba – University of Arizona)
- One square inch of carpet can contain more than 200,000 bacteria particles, compared to 49 bacteria particles found on a household toilet seat. (Source: Dr. Charles P. Gerba – University of Arizona)
- Carpet can contain as many as 100,000 dust mites per square yard. (Source: Dr. Charles P. Gerba – University of Arizona)
- Dust mites are one of the leading causes of indoor allergies, in particular asthma. (Source: National Center for Health Statistics)
- Children ages 2-5 can put their fingers in their mouths 42 times per hour after touching household surfaces. (Source: Dr. Charles P. Gerba – University of Arizona)
- A child can swallow the amount of dirt on six kitchen floor tiles per day. (Source: Dr. Charles P. Gerba – University of Arizona)
- The average American adult spends more than 85 percent of his/her time indoors, which has triggered growing concerns over biological contaminants within the home environment.(Source: Institute of Medicine)

Aside from the amazing UV-C light to kill all those nasties in your home the other features of this amazing machine are:
~ The tools which are a 13 ft. detachable hose, crevice tool and brush.
~ A 29 foot power cord which allowed me to reach all my room from the outlet in my hall.
~ The power switch on the handle is easily turned on and off with the push of a button, no more leaning over to turn on the power.
~ The brush roll on/off button is right below the power button so you can turn it on and off with ease.
~ The UV-C activation switch is right on the handle so when you are ready to activate just push down the part of the handle and when the light is on you are killing those germs. *note you do have to hold the button down the entire time for the UV-C light that you want to use this function.
~ 5 different height adjustments so no matter if you have tall carpet or a bare floor the Oreck Halo will clean any surface.
~ 5 LED lights illuminate hard to see areas.
~ Weighs 17 Pounds
~ 3 Year Warranty on Vacuum
~ 5 Year Warranty on UV-C Light Bulb
~ Quieter motor than any other vacuum I have owned
~ Can be serviced at 450 Oreck stores with an extended warranty that includes 3 tune ups.

The Oreck Halo is one amazing piece of machinery. Oreck has amazed me with the technology they have placed in this vacuum to help keep our homes cleaner therefore keeping us healthier. The Oreck Halo was developed by parents of triplets so that to me is even more of a reason to want one, developed by parents for parents.
