Aloha Friday 8/21/09

Submitted by on August 21, 2009 – 1:32 pm15 Comments

I have not done this in awhile and thought…I need to do Aloha Friday again. I have some down time and a no thinking post is going to be best today :)

I am reading one of the cutest little books, called, 1001 things it means to be a mom. Here are some of the things it means to be a mom according to the book (some are funny, some are serious):

~ Being a mom means buying a pretend toaster that is almost as expensive as a real one.
~ Being a mom means giving up the cool convertible for a minivan.
~ Being a mom means trying to do business on the phone, while your child is crying in the background.

So my question today is:

What does being a mom mean to you?

Make it funny, Make it serious, whatever comes to mind when you think Being a mom means….

Happy Friday.

Being a mom means to me that I can no longer be selfish and just think about my wants & my needs. That was something that I learned right away when he was born. Sometimes it's hard to balance, but I always try to put my child first.

Being a mom means laughing at endless jokes that don't even make sense.

Being a mom means counting the minutes until bedtime and then missing your kids as soon as the house is finally quiet.

Being a mom is hard, but so worth it.

I am not certain I can put it into words. I have been a mom for 17 years, it is who I am, not what I do. I cannot imagine being anything else.

    Being Mom means….

… running naked to their room when they whine.. because I can NEVER find anything to throw over my large naked butt at 2am. Nor do I care.

Being a mom to me means that, no matter what, their needs come first and above all else. And it's done with happiness and love in my heart; not because I have to!
Oh gosh, I could go on and on……this is such a wonderful question!!

Being a mom to me means nursing my son before eating when I'm starving, and changing his diapers before using the bathroom when I have to GO RIGHT NOW. It means putting my son's needs before my own, and happily. :)

Being a mom is the best gift the Lord has given me.

It even means hiding in the closet to talk to an old friend. If only for a moment or two.

Being a mom is about the good and the bad. Its the memories we make and the time we spend.
