February 11, 2012 – 8:31 pm | 2 Comments

Probably one of the most iconic performers in my young years along with Michael Jackson was Whitney Houston. Today the music world has suffered another loss. I got the AP update on my phone and my heart just dropped at the news of Whitney Houston’s death, and yes yours truly here teared up.

Once again Natalie Grant’s lyrics lift me up and bring a smile to my face.

Everyday is a battle, it’s hard to not want to feel perfect.  Yes, I know I have flaws but in the past I tried to correct those flaws on my own before going to God.  I thought…”Well if I could just fix this or tweak that first” and that was wrong wrong wrong thinking.  God wants us to come to him just as we are, if we wait until we are perfect, well….. we will never come to him because there is not one person (aside from Jesus) who will ever be perfect.

If you think someone is perfect and strive to be like them I would seriously take a step back and regroup.  Trying to be a perfect person will be a life long task that you will never ever achieve.  So instead why not quit trying to be perfect and instead let God work in your situation.

Don’t try to fix it yourself.  If there is something about you that you are ashamed of or a personality trait that isn’t pretty…who cares, run to Him with your arms open.

He wants you just as you are and he is the one who will help you become that person you desire to be.

Fighting the urge to fix everything on my own is definitely hard, handing situations that have hurt me over to God instead of reacting and “getting back” at the person is almost like torture, admitting when I am wrong and apologizing is  one of the last things I ever want to do.  Why?  Because I am not perfect but the beauty in that is I can do all those things because I will hand problems to God to fix, I instead will pray for those who have hurt me and let God work in the situation, and when I am wrong I have to put the pride aside and admit I am not a perfect person and make it right.  Will I do this everytime probably not, after all I am only human but the best thing about that is even though I am not perfect God is still right there ready to fix even the problems I have caused and heal me from the hurt that has happened to me.

Now take a listen to this inspirational song and remember you don’t have to be perfect to run to Him, he is waiting for you to come as you are:

Have a wonderful Monday and a wonderful week and remember “There is no such thing as perfect people”
