Whitney Houston, Another Music Icon Gone Too Soon
February 11, 2012 – 8:31 pm | 2 Comments

Probably one of the most iconic performers in my young years along with Michael Jackson was Whitney Houston. Today the music world has suffered another loss. I got the AP update on my phone and my heart just dropped at the news of Whitney Houston’s death, and yes yours truly here teared up.

Mythbusters: Weird World of Water Review

Submitted by on November 16, 2009 – 8:08 am10 Comments

MythbustersMy family had the chance to review the Mythbusters Weird World of Water Science Exploration Kit.  Having 2 boys and a girl who is into all things her brothers are into (should this worry me yet), they were all so excited to see this arrive in the mail.  Unfortunately for several weeks from the time we received it one or more of us has been sick.  Finally we all recovered and have been healthy and it was time to bring on the experiment.

The Weird World of Water Kit comes with 4 different experiments to try.  Myth of the Pantry Projectile, Myth of the Man Who Could Walk On Water, Liquid Rainbow, and the one we tried, Myth of the Deadly Vortex.

Included in the kit was 15 beads, 3 pieces of balsa wood, 2 plastic one liter bottles, 1 bag glitter confetti, straw, clear tube, cylinder, fin holder, funnel, nose cone, pipette, stopper assembly, red food coloring, yellow food coloring, and a vortex connector.  Some of the experiments do require additional items to be able to do.

Kids will have a fun filled time learning to walk on water, watching a deadly vortex, seeing a liquid rainbow and watching a rocket using ingredients from your pantry.  Be ready for laughs and awe as your children see which myths are true and which ones are simply myth.  Our family chose to do the Myth of the Deadly Vortex and we were not disappointed.  With bottles, vortex connector and glitter in hand we set out to see this myth in action.  While we could tell you about our experiment we thought it would be much more fun to show you…

How fun was that??  I can answer, it was actually quite fun and disregard the part when I said it wasn’t working right, you have to be smarter than the experiment and I obviously wasn’t.  Oh well at least I got it working when I finally read ALL the rules.  Note to self: You must read all the rules to be able to carry off an experiment without a hitch LOL.

My children thoroughly enjoyed the Myth of The Deadly Vortex and continued to play with it for quite some time after we were finished recording.  We fully intend on carrying out the other experiments included in the kit, especially the rocket one.  My oldest is chomping at the bits to see something fly.  Definitely fun for the whole family this is great indoors or outdoors, err make sure to do the rocket one outside LOL.

You can get your own Mythbusters Weird World of Water Experiment over at Discovery for $19.95.  Don’t forget to check out their Power of Air Pressure and Force of Flight kits as well. Geared for ages 9 and up it was just as enjoyable for my 6 and 4 year old, so with a parents help all ages will have a blast with this.   This would make the perfect Christmas gift for the little science guy or girl this Christmas!

Team MomThanks so much to Team Mom for the chance to review this kit.  Product was sent to me for sole purpose of reviewing.  NO monetary compensation was received.  Opinions in this post are that of myself and / or my family only and reception of product does not sway our opinion.  You will always read 100% honest opinions on products here at A DAily Dose.
