February 11, 2012 – 8:31 pm | 2 Comments

Probably one of the most iconic performers in my young years along with Michael Jackson was Whitney Houston. Today the music world has suffered another loss. I got the AP update on my phone and my heart just dropped at the news of Whitney Houston’s death, and yes yours truly here teared up.

Going back in time a few days to share with you the surprise Christmas present my awesome hubby gave me.  It’s a beautiful and magnificently warm down jacket from Eddie Bauer.  A few days before Christmas we were at the mall returning the shirts I had got for Brent.  I gave them to him before Christmas..yes!  Anyhoo, they were a bit too snug so we took them and exchanged them and he bought 2 other shirts while we were in there (JCPenney).

After that we walked around the mall and I was pointing out things I liked along the way hoping that he would get me something.  We never really exchange gifts but this year I really wanted to.   We walked into Eddie Bauer and he pointed out a sweater he liked so I picked it up for him.  Now I am not usually a big fan of stuff in Eddie Bauer, it’s not my style but I saw this vest that was to die for and right next to it was a jacket just like it that I liked even more.  So I hinted around and then we left…and he didn’t have a bag in his hand.

I was a little bummed but what can you do right?  So off to home we went and I was kind of resigned to the fact I was going to pick out my own present like normal.  We got home and he left to go back to work, he had to go reset his computer to log on from home.  When he returns I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and he yelled for me “Babe, I need your help with something outside, I’ve got your jacket..come help me“.  So I go around the corner and IT’S THE JACKET I was drooling over.  I was in jacket heaven!  So warm, so soft and it looks super cute on, a key factor I know.

AHHHH next I am sharing with you is the matching vest of the jacket mentioned above.  I had gotten Christmas money from several people and after it was over I really wanted some Miss Me jeans and the down vest from Eddie Bauer.

These jeans are absolutely fun to look at and fit better than any jeans I have ever had. *Big Thank you To Miss Me for making such a wonderful jean!*

They have lots of different designs but I got a dark denim and the pair in the picture here.  Both have crosses on the pockets. They are long so I roll them up to wear with regular shoes and they work wonderful with heeled shoes/boots. Aren’t they super cute??  I should totally be a jean model for them, they look awesome on my derrière. Just Sayin’  Speaking of boots let’s move on.

So you like don’t ya??  As I was leaving the house today to get my hair done (I sold some of my clothes to a local consignment shop so as a treat to myself I could have a me day).  Picture of the hair coming…hold your horses!  Anyways back to the story, as I was leaving in my Miss Me jeans and Eddie Bauer vest I put on some black shoes that I have had for a few years (hubs said they look 90′s).  What can I say jeans and purses are my forte, not shoes LOL.  He goes “Those Shoes…I don’t like them” and handed me the money he got from his mom for Christmas “Go buy some of those pointy toed boots, they will look better“.

I was like “AWWW, babe that’s sweet of you, but you don’t have to do that”  Him “I want to“.  So I leave excited for my hair and thinking to myself that I am so lucky my husband is so selfless.  Then as I am driving my day dreaming haults and I realize “He thinks my shoes are ugly”  Hmm maybe this wasn’t so selfless after all LOL.

Okay it was selfless since it was his money but it cracks me up that for a small moment in time he is essentially ragging on my style.  Doesn’t he know I am the style queen…well at least where jeans and purses are concerned, guess not so much on the shoes.  Oh well I ended up getting the above 3 pair for the price of what one would cost normally because Rack Room Shoes as always was having an awesome sale.  So it’s win win.  He wins because I won’t be wearing “90′s era shoes” anymore and I win because well I got new boots…need I say more.

Moving on for the moment you all are waiting for, I know I know it’s horrible of me to make you wait but it’s my blog and I can do what I want when I want so there.  Yes I went to get my hair cut and colored today and I LOVE it.  No explanation needed.  My hair was in need of some sweet tender loving.  It was looking dead and scragly but hair is not on the top of my to do list and I never have time anyways.  After selling some clothes because I decided I deserved a me something or other I decided it was time to give my hair some undivided attention so I booked an appointment and began looking around for what I wanted.

I wanted to go dark because I hadn’t been dark for so long so in I went and told the stylist what I was looking for and she worked her magic.  When I say she worked her magic I mean SHE WORKED HER MAGIC.  Stylist lady rocked it out on my hair.  Taking about an inch off and doing a dark do, she made my hair feel and look alive again…Mucho points to her!!!  Now for the hair since I know you are all gripping your seats waiting for the reveal.  I will have more this coming Wednesday with some family pictures but so you can see now here is a before and after.

Pardon the groodie hair and no makeup but I was not going to get ready just to go get hair dye all over me.  There you have it, my new look and I LOVE IT!!!  Yep I sure do.  Out with the old and in with the New for 2010.  New look, new attitude..though I will keep the old friends because they are pretty great after all!
