Usually you hear the phrase “21 Days To A Better Me”, but I decided to change it up a little. I decided we are going to have 21 Days To A Better Us, because it’s not just going to be a me thing, it’s going to be a change for my whole family. They say it takes twenty-one days to form a habit, so for my family that is going to be eating healthier. For myself and my husband it’s a little easier, we aren’t that picky. For my kids, it means finding something they like, or finding a way to get them to like something new
For me, what I start my day off eating (good or not so good choices) seem to play a big part in how I feel the rest of the day. So, as part of our “21 Days To A Better Us” journey, I have decided to incorporate Kellogg’s Low Fat Granola with Raisins cereal into my daily life. It’s a tasty way to start the day! And definitely much better for me, than my past choices, which shall remain nameless.
For my kids, it gets a little more tricky adding a new food into their lives. They have the things they like, and usually anything else is off limits. I can’t blame them, I was the same way when I was a kid, but I want them to make better choices earlier in life. So to make it fun, we add texture to their favorite yogurts. You can simply add the Kellogg’s Low Fat Granola with Raisins, right to the top and mix in to your favorite greek yogurt, like we have:
Visual appeal is quite a big thing with my kids, so making fun layers seems to make it taste better. My daughter loves it that way in her blueberry yogurt:
For the picky ones, there is just something about the crunch texture added to their yogurt that makes them forget they are eating something different. They are getting almonds, whole grain oats, raisins, things they would normally turn up their nose at. Along with picking healthier breakfasts and snacks, we are also making a point to drink more water and get outside daily, even if just for a few minutes. Over the next 21 days I am excited to see the new, healthier habits we form. Especially when they are healthy habits that are tasty!
