Disneynature’s newest movie “Monkey Kingdom” will be hitting theaters April 17 and I’ll be bringing you lots of fun adventures, to help you really immerse yourself into what this movie is about. I’ll be heading to Orlando this Tuesday (April 14) for the #MonkeyKingdomEvent, where not only will I be screening the movie, but also going behind the scenes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to chat with Disneynature Ambassador Dr. M Sanjayan, who you can see in this clip:
I don’t know about you, but I have always LOVED the Disneynature movies, the fact that they highlight beautiful animals and give back, is so important to me. As mentioned above, I will have the chance to screen Monkey Kingdom, so be sure to check back here for my review. Until then, here’s a little about Monkey Kingdom:
Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up in the world. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya’s whole family is forced to relocate, where she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to lead them to untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future. Featuring a rich cast of characters, including a mischievous mongoose, simple-minded langur monkeys, predatory leopards and monitor lizards, “Monkey Kingdom” is directed by Mark Linfield (“Chimpanzee,” “Earth”) and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Chimpanzee,” “Bears”). With music from award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Shrek” movies), Disneynature’s eighth True Life Adventure—the follow-up to 2014’s “Bears”—swings into theaters April 17, 2015. For more information about the film and the conservation program, go to www.disney.com/monkeykingdom.
Be sure to go see Monkey Kingdom opening week because Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitat! To get you as excited as I am about this movie (that my daughter is dying to see) here is the official trailer:
Keeping with the animal and nature theme, during the trip we will also:
Go backstage at Disney’s ANIMAL KINGDOM to learn how Disney Cast Members tend to the 1,500-plus inhabitants who live there
Have a friendly competition where we go on a wilderness exploration (Team 1 are the champions…just saying) where we will set out on a series of fact-finding challenges
Join an Animal Specialist for a deliciously insightful, 4-course lunch at the restaurant Sanaa
Go on the Africa Safari Trek
As if all that isn’t exciting enough, we will be visiting the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, hanging at the Disney Parks, and staying at the AllStar Vacation Homes!
I can’t wait to have you join me on my journey, so be sure to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Be sure to follow the hashtags #MonkeyKingdomEvent #AllStarVacationHomes and #DisneySide so you can see all the chatter from myself and other attendees during the event! I can’t wait to share this amazing adventure with you all, until then mark your calendars for April 17 so you can go check out Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom!
