Don’t Wanna Keep On Keepin On All The Time

SIGH That is precisely how I feel.  And since getting your thoughts out of your head is supposed to be therapeutic all you lucky readers get to read my thoughts today.  What exactly is weighing on my mind you ask (or you don’t but I am still telling anyways)?

~ We have the something or other joints going out on our van and have no $$ to fix it.

~ Our dryer is a piece of crap and see above as why we can’t replace it

~ Living paycheck to paycheck is getting old.

~ Questioning how in the world we are going to be able to even do Christmas this year.

~ For us to be able to do anything for our kids (an occasional movie, birthdays, etc) we have to accept it’s money we don’t have.  How do you deal with that?

~ I am tired of living in Arkansas and am ready to be back in Florida with my family.

~ Groceries are getting to be unaffordable and gas is going back up.  But at least it’s not $4.00 a gallon right!

~ On the plus side we will have a big portion of our debt paid off in the future and then things will be better.

~ A little Elvis always puts me in a bit of a better mood.

~ Crying makes me feel a bit better but I get all splotchy and puffy eyed and the problems are still there.

~ I tend to “hole up” when life gets tough and it’s not the best approach.

~ I want more for my kids they deserve more than what I can give them right now.

~ I tend to get a bit suspicious of things and people sometimes.

~ I am however looking forward to Thanksgiving, eating is my solace occasionally that could be a problem later in life.

~ We essentially live on what a single person makes because of the ridiculous taxes taken out of our earnings that’s not really doable with a family of 5 living on single person earnings.  So it’s no wonder we have more in bills each month than we actually bring home.  Stupid taxes.

~ I hate that taxes are 9.25 % here on everything(groceries, clothes, etc) and that we have to pay taxes on our cars EVERY single year!!

Okay whew that felt better, or so I am telling myself…now we can move on to happier posts yes??

Hope you all have a great week, I know somehow mine will get better and everything will work out somehow.  Off to listen to some praise and worship it’s great for lifting the spirits and God loves it when I praise him~

So sorry things are hard…do you feel better? I always do after writing a vent-y post. Paying things off will be good in the long term, but I know what you mean. It’s really freaking hard.

I am so feeling you! I also live in Arkansas, and wish we didn’t have to pay property taxes each year, on the same stuff over and over, after we’ve paid initial taxes on them. Sounds crazy right?!

But when I’m feeling down, I’ve found if I must have a pitty party, I have a good one, and move on.

But if I don’t have time to lose my mind, praise and worship always lifts my spirits. Know that even though things seem a little gray, it’s not as bad as it could be.

Hope you have a great rest of the week!

I’m sorry girl you are having a tough time right now but you are a strong mama…you will get through this. It WILL be worth it later!

I totally feel your “pain”. We do live on 1 income(Hubbies) and know all too well how difficult it is. Then I remind myself of the WHY’S and I can cope with what we do without or exchange for what we do have.

Toni first of all BIG hug. Get a grip of yourself. You’ve got a great blog and girl you are hysterically funny. Anyway, on the topic of your kids deserving more than you can give. You are already giving them plenty, you just don’t know it. Just having a stable household with two parents who love them can give kids so much. I’m a foster parent and I see what happens to kids when they don’t have the basics in life i.e. food, clothing, shelter, love. Boy, they get messed up easily. After taking care of 3 of my own and over 14 foster babies, I’ve decided that kids don’t need lots of toys and things. They need engaged, attentive parents to thrive. Yeah, that simple. Money helps, but it doesn’t buy happiness.

I hear you. Between me and my husband we have 15 prescription medications. Thank the Lord we do have health insurance, but the co-pays on the medications do take a big bite out of the budget every month. We too, live paycheck to paycheck, and no it’s not fun. We live on one income too. Hubby was just told he was prediabetic, and had to start eating a certain way. Well, eating super healthy is super expensive, so right now, he’s the only one in the family on this diet plan the nutritionist and doctor want him on. I’m trying to see from this list/menu stuff of his what I can afford to incorporate into the rest of the families diets without spending more at the grocery store.
I’m sure you coupon and look for the best deals to save money on food too.
I was sorely upset by the lack of produce that came from my vegetable/fruit garden I planted this year, so I didn’t have much to can or freeze, another bummer.
I hear you, because today the propane man comes. I hope the propane isn’t over $2.00 a gallon. I’m praying for a break.
Actually the preacher at our church told my husband to get it topped off this week, because it’s not too expensive right now, hope he’s right.
Hang in there, that’s all I can really say. Just hang in there, and pray for financial blessings and that God will meet all your needs. Somehow he always does ours. It can get very, very close, but they are always meet. Depend on God.

Awww I know how it feels to feel like you just NEED things to change, like, NOW. I did a similar post on my blog about a month ago… Just keep in mind all the ways you are blessed because there are always tons of people who would love to have the problems we have. I know it doesn’t make things seem any better but thinking that way always helps me to put things into a better perspective.

~ Our 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan which we had for 3 years, put barely 70K miles on, and paid $17,000 toward got repoed… ouch. Our family of 7 is now driving a 98 Explorer with over 200K miles on it.

~ Neither me nor my husband had a paycheck at all for a solid 6 weeks. Ouch, again. My husband, thankfully, now has 2 jobs and we’re getting caught up, which is nice.

~ I totally feel you on the Christmas thing, hence the hubby picking up a 2nd job… still not sure about Christmas. We’ll do SOMETHING but nothing major.

~ We used to go out to eat after church each Sunday – now, we just can’t and our kids are always begging to go :( It makes us feel really sucky. We have had to tell them ‘no’ for new shoes, ‘no’ for book fair money, ‘no’ for cheerleading, and ‘no’ for basketball this year. Ouch, again…

~ I am tired of living in Arkansas and am ready to be back in Florida with my family. <—- We live in Louisiana :) We should totally try to meet up before you decide to run off back to FL :)

~ Just as a tip, when I started doing meal planning I actually have saved $90 per week off of our previous $200-250 weekly food budget. We’re now down to about $125-$160 depending on the week (family of 7) You should try it and see if it helps you!

~ On the plus side we will have a big portion of our debt paid off in the future and then things will be better. <—- That's awesome :) That is one good thing about us having to just start from scratch … we are getting things paid off as well rather than continuing to do boneheaded things like take out additional short term loans and refinancing things.

~ Crying makes me feel a bit better but I get all splotchy and puffy eyed and the problems are still there. <—- Praying works better… but the thing about that is, you'll still cry. LOL

~ I want more for my kids they deserve more than what I can give them right now. <— Sweetheart, you are SO not the only one who has felt that way. When my husband and I were in college, we were often down to our last DIME and I would cry SO hard because we could never get things when they needed them and there were SO many nights we ate noodles and went to bed :/ It always made me feel SO guilty!

Sorry this was so long, but I can completely identify with that you’re talking about and relate to the way you feel. It will get better… just hang in there. *hugs* I understand… and you’re not alone. A LOT of people are going through similar things/emotions right now…
