As a mom who grew up wearing braces, and then due to a car accident had to wear them again as an adult, oral care is something that is high on my priority list. That, and possibly the fact I am terrified of any kind of mouth work aside from a regular cleaning. Because of that, I jumped at the chance to take the Listerine 21-day Challenge myself, and have my family join the challenge.
It’s not just my teeth I worry about, it’s my kids teeth. Like all kids there have been the “I am too tired to brush my teeth” battles, that have ended in tears and a big dislike for mom. I remember fighting those same battles with my mom growing up. Luckily, my kids have gotten to the point of being okay with teeth brushing…but anything extra is like asking them to eat a green bean (they hate green beans). So, to spark a fire under them…we have started the challenge and made it into sort of a competition. At the end of it, we are going to see which one of them has stuck to the challenge and what kind of a difference there will be.
I headed to our local Target, to pick up the supplies. After all, a challenge can’t be a challenge if you don’t have the right ammunition. Next, I made a point to tell them all about how much of their mouth is getting missed just by only brushing. There is nothing like grossing them out to inspire them to work harder for a cleaner mouth. Just in case you need to know…you pretty much miss 75% of your mouth if all you are doing is brushing! GROSS!
As part of the 21-day challenge, which will start today, we will be using the following products:
- LISTERINE® Antiseptic
- LISTERINE® SMART RINSE®
- LISTERINE® WHITENING® Original Gel Fluoride Anticavity Toothpaste
- REACH® Floss
Here’s where it gets even better! Not only are we bettering ourselves (as is anyone who is participating) but by taking the challenge we get to help children in need. For every person who posts a “Swish Selfie” to LISTERINE® Brand’s Facebook page, LISTERINE® Brand will make a $5.00 contribution to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America® program, up to $85,000, toward their goal of connecting 210,000 children with needed oral health services in 2014.
So, what’s stopping you!! Join in the challenge, along with my family. Take those selfies and help yourself, while you are helping others. That’s definitely a win/win to me!
What is your biggest hassle when it comes to oral care??
