I’ve always wanted to see the Macy’s Parade, those big floats, there is just something exciting about them. Every year I watch them on TV, but this year, thanks to the Universal Orlando Holidays, I was able to experience the parade in person. I was invited to Universal Studios Orlando for their opening holiday (or Wholiday if you are a Whoville resident) weekend festivities, along with my family. We are HUGE fans of Universal and Islands of Adventure parks, we went down 4 different times (each being a week long) last year. However, we had never experienced the holiday fun before this trip, and boy was it a treat.
With both parks having fun holiday happenings, your family will be in for memories galore. Start your day off with Christmas cheer and take in the fun, whimsical decor at Seuss Landing!
After you walk around and enjoy rides, characters, and Christmas cheer, be sure to check out The Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular. Taking the classic story “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” and making it a fun musical, adults and kids alike will enjoy it.
I even took a little video throughout the show so you could get a sneak peek until you can make it yourself!
I was so impressed with the singing and acting of everyone in the production, but the Grinch, he was amazing. “WHO”ever portrayed him, was perfectly cast, because most of the time I had to remind myself it wasn’t actually Jim Carrey.
We even got to meet the Grinch after the production and he quickly shouted to the world he was best friends with Gabriel, after pulling his hoodie over his face LOL. Check out The Grinch as he says goodbye to us all:
Not to mention getting to take a photo with him, that will most definitely be next years Christmas card:
As if that isn’t enough, you can walk over to Universal Studios side of the park and have even more holiday fun. With beautiful decorations, fun shows, and Christmas classics, you will have your fill of holiday fun without getting bored.
I have always wanted to see the Macy’s Day Parade in person, and thanks to their teaming up with Universal Orlando, I had that chance during our weekend there. During the holiday season, you can catch those larger than life sized balloons come down the streets!
While photos are great, video is better! So, of course, I shot some video of the parade to share with you all!
There are so many fun characters to see, dancers who will make you feel like dancing, and at the end of the parade route you’ll experience the tree lighting ceremony featuring Santa Claus, those fun tap-dancing snowmen, and of course the Rockette-style dancers. The parade and tree-lighting, was the perfect way to end our fun holiday experience. It’s definitely an experience I hope to have each year.
After the parade, you can head over to the outdoor stage and catch Mannheim Steamroller perform some of their famous Christmas songs. We didn’t catch that this year, but fully intend on going back, so we can, next year! The 2013 Universal Orlando Holidays, continues through Jan. 4, 2014 with remaining Mannheim Steamroller performances on Dec. 21 and 22. So don’t miss it!! Use their handy vacation planner to plan your visit no matter what the season!
Have you ever been to Universal Orlando Holidays??
