Growing up,I always said to my mom “I am not going to be like you when I grow up”. Of course those were usually times when I was mad at her. I am happy to say I was oh so wrong and am exactly like my mom. I noticed I do so many of the same things she did when I was growing up. Now that I have a daughter of my own it is so fun to see her doing many of the same things I did.
I took dance, gymnastic, and cheered when I was growing up and my daughter has done all three things. In fact she is still in gymnastics and will be cheering again when the new season starts. We laugh together, play together, wear butterbeer mustaches together, and much more. It’s so neat to see how my mother must have seen me, as I watch my daughter do and love the same things I did.
As a mom, I know I have a big impact in the person my daughter will become, and that is something that makes me always strive to be the best, so it will inspire her to do the same. One of those things is staying healthy together. Whether it’s making sure we start our day off right with a great cereal or having a mid-day (after school snack for her) snack of something like Kellogg’s FiberPlus® Antioxidants Bar in Chocolate Chip, I want to make good choices, so she will too.
I think it’s so important for parents to be the example for kids, and it seems I am not the only one. Check out this fun video “Like Mother, Like Daughter”, to see how you can get your kiddos involved and be a great example for them to follow:
