Random Ramblings: Irrational Fears

random ramblings 2
I decided to start a fun little post series called “Random Ramblings” where I talk about anything and everything.

So, we all have fears…or just say you do to make me feel better. Today I thought I would share with you some of my irrational fears because is near. Yes, I have mad rhyming skills, you didn’t know that did you. Anyhoo, back to this fear stuff. I am going to share some of these crazy fears I have and in turn you should totally share yours in the comments below.

Bridges. Now I am not really afraid of bridges per say but it never fails every time I am smack in the middle of a bridge or at its highest point, driving over, I think about it collapsing for whatever reason. I know how well they are built but every.single.time for a split second I have that fleeting thought and panic.

Bugs…every kind. I hate flies, I hate roaches, I hate spiders. I will run screaming that flies (or is in a web)or do the icky jump if it is a ground bug. Okay maybe I don’t run screaming from flies but I do get the heebie jeebies. Every other bug, you’d think I was being chased by an ax murderer.

Clowns…I blame seeing Stephen King’s IT at a much too young age…it makes me sad I stopped liking BOZO the clown thanks to seeing a portion of that movie just from walking through a room. I still despise clowns to this day. I know good and well it was fake and that the likelihood of a clown being a psycho is slim, but still….they scare me.

Seems I am not the only one with fears out there, check out this response I got on twitter:

I am afraid to walk in front of fire hydrants. I have this irrational fear that the pressure will cause them to explode and the cap will fly off and break my leg.

    Honest. to. god.

We have a lot in common, lol. Bugs are a huge one for me, and I have a fear of driving over bridges. I’m okay as a passenger, just not as a driver.

I can’t stand having my arms held. I will freak the freak out about it. They have to be able to move. It’s not rational but it’s based on a childhood surgery trauma so I guess it’s rational. lol

Mine are pretty ridiculous — I don’t know if it’s a true ‘fear’…but I can’t look at The Burger King without getting creeped out – I have to change the channel or close my eyes real tight when he comes on the screen. On occasion, our local BK will have a gigantic blow up of him……and I will drive 10 minutes out of my way so I don’t have to drive past it. Ridiculous? Probably!
