Remind Someone (and yourself) They Are Beautiful

Beautiful

It’s always easy to feel beautiful when you are all glammed up!  I know that’s the case for me, but the thing is, I don’t have to have a face full of makeup and my hair just so to feel beautiful.  It makes me sad to know that’s not the case for everyone.  In fact, it’s not the case for everyone even when they are wearing makeup and that breaks my heart.  I have a daughter who I think is the most beautiful little girl in the world…

Daughter Beauty

I always want her to know just how beautiful she is, which is why I tell her every day.  I know how it makes me feel when my husband,  daughter, father, or anyone tells me I am beautiful, so I want to do my best to always make others feel that “light” that I feel when I am told that.  Just yesterday, Mother’s Day, I made sure to tell three other women, who are very important to my life, just how beautiful they were!  My mom (who is battling cancer and her attitude through it makes her even more beautiful to me) and my sisters.

In our daily life, it’s easy to become self-critical about how we look, especially with people being so critical of one another today. When did the world become such a judgmental place?  I am a firm believer, in complimenting others and helping build self-esteem rather than tear it down.  Which is why I love the Dove® Mirrors initiative!  On May 17th, you can visit your local Sam’s Club to send a postcard to remind someone they are beautiful!

Dove Mirrors

What a great way for us women, to build one another up.    Empower one another, lift up one another, really just bring a smile to each other.  As a mother, daughter, sister, friend, cheer coach, and so many more “hats” I wear in my day to day life, I want to be someone who reminds others they are beautiful.  Because at the end of the day it may be just what they needed to hear and I may be the only one who says it to them.   Why not take a moment to make others feel beautiful?  I bet by doing so, you will feel even more beautiful yourself!

I have always said that we are our worst critics! I will look in the mirror and point out flaws that no one else sees or cares about. It is crazy madness.

  2. 2

I think most of us need that reminder in this culture! And let’s face it. Husbands aren’t the best about reminding us. 😉

  3. 3

I agree, it makes me so sad to see how judgmental we as a society have gotten, especially when it comes to the younger generations. I was lucky that I never really cared what other people thought of me growing up but it breaks my heart to see little girls so defeated by what the ‘beauty’ standard is these days.

I love things like this that actually PROMOTE beauty the way it should be-celebrated regardless!

  4. 4

I love Dove and all of their campaigns.

  5. 5

This campaign has such a great message. I used to be super critical of the way I look, but have really come to good place since reaching my 40’s.

  6. 6

This is such a great campaign. We definitely need to build people up instead of tearing each other- and ourselves- down.

  7. 7

It’s so nice to be reminded that you are beautiful. I know that, personally, if I’m having a bad day, getting a compliment is always a great pick me up.

What a pretty post! I love Dove products myself too!

As women we all need this reminder, to love ourselves and focus on our strengths, not our flaws. Great campaign.

  10. 10

I never rarely wear makeup and rarely do my hair, luckily I do not need those rings and actually do not like them. Everyone is beautiful in some way and beauty is not just skin deep.

  11. 11

I agree completely! It would be wonderful if people spent more time lifting each other up instead of tearing them down.

  12. 12

Yes! It does feel good to make others feel good! You ladies are beautiful, by the way!

  13. 13

What beautiful ladies- all of you! What a great campaign.

  14. 14

I’m so horrible at this! Thanks for a great reminder!

  15. 15

we are so hard on ourselves. it’s important to find good qualities each day

  16. 16

those are some beautiful pictures. I sometimes need to be reminded. My kids and BF always remind me, and than in itself is beautiful

  17. 17

I often tell my daughters how beautiful they are but my 11 year old is at the age where she scoffs. She’ll realize someday that she is!

  18. 18

Agreed. And women are the hardest on themselves, for sure. I tell my daughter she’s beautiful all of the time too.

  19. 19

It is so important to continue to encourage ourselves and those around us. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and we must embrace our beauty!

  20. 20

I will never understand why us woman are so hard on ourselves. I really like this campaign and the message it is sending to us women. We are all beautiful in our own unique ways!

  21. 21

I really love this post. I have a friend who always greets other women with “hello, beautiful!” That really stood out when I met her. It was like, if no one else told you that you were beautiful, you could count her for the reminder.

  22. 22

I agree we really need to lift others off and take our eyes off of us sometimes.
