Today it’s all about the Samsung Galaxy S III vs. iPhone.
It’s becoming one of the biggest debates in technology, which is the better phone? So today I am going to share some info on the tech specs on both the Samsung Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5.
Samsung Galaxy S III boasts an 8 MP rear facing camera and 1.9 MP front facing camera. My iPhone camera specs are 8 MP rear-facing but only 1.2 MP front facing. The Samsung Galaxy S III definitely claims to boast a better front facing camera but I haven’t noticed the quality much better than my iPhone. Draw your own conclusions…

Rear facing camera:
I can’t say there is a definite winner on the front photo but I do feel as if the iPhone 5 won on the rear-facing. The photo quality is a little more crisp. That being said, the Samsung does take amazing photos overall.
I do love the way the flash, camera, speaker, and headphone jack layout is on the Samsung Galaxy S III. On the iPhone 5, the camera & flash are in your upper corner of your phone while the headphone jack and speakers are on the bottom. I’ve never been a big fan of the speaker placement on the iPhone and moving the headphone jack to the bottom is a bit of a mystery to me. It’s definitely more inconvenient in my opinion. I’m still not quite sure why they did it that way.
The speaker quality on the Samsung Galaxy S III definitely outranks the quality of the speaker on my iPhone 5. While they are about the same when using headphones they definitely are not the same when on speakerphone or listening to music right from the speaker. I have to turn my iPhone 5 all the way up quite often and with the Galaxy S III I usually stay at mid-level with the volume and it’s just as loud.
S-Voice VS. Siri.
Which virtual assistant reigns supreme? It’s almost a toss up. When it comes to understanding me Siri wins. S-Voice has definitely “heard” me wrong more often than Siri. After speaking my command, question, etc S-Voice is the winner when it comes to replying back quicker. Siri takes a bit longer to process which is probably why she gets what I said right more often. I can use both to update twitter, but S-Voice would make a few blunders with my words compared to Siri getting them correct.
The newest update with Siri is what may edge it out over S-Voice…the ability to send emails. Siri offers the ability to dictate and send emails which is great for when you are on the go with no computer and don’t want to type on the tiny screen. Overall, both can carry out almost all of the same actions, but at times one edges out the competition. I do love that there is an option for those who may not be Apple fans.
The clear winner in this is the Samsung Galaxy S III. The iPhone 5 stats are as follows… Height: 4.87″ Width: 2.31″ Depth: 0.30″ while the Samsung stats are Height: 5.38″ Width: 2.78″ Depth: 0.34″. The screen of the Galaxy S III is much bigger than the iPhone 5. Seeing everything on the web, in the apps, and even the phone area in bigger size is great, and I have a feeling my eyes will be thanking me for that someday. I always looked at the phones that are bigger like this and thought I would not like them. I was quite surprised to find myself loving the bigger screen and it was so light! To have a bigger screen without having to add ounces to the weight is a plus to me. Which brings me to our final comparison for this post…weight.
The iPhone 5 takes this one with a weight of 3.95 ounces compared to Samsung’s 4.7 ounces. It’s one of the first things I noticed when I got my new iPhone. With my old one the Samsung won the weight battle but with the newest one iPhone wins by almost an ounce, which may not seem like much but in the world of phones it really is.
I can’t honestly say I prefer one over the other. There are certain things I like better on the Galaxy S III and there are certain things I like better on the iPhone 5. Overall I am very impressed with how the Samsung has come close to taking over this iPhone addicts heart. Will it win in the end…only a few more posts will tell.
