Thank you to Experience Kissimmee for making this ShrekFeast experience possible. All opinions are my own.
One of the great opportunities that I experienced on my recent trip to Kissimmee, FL was to partake in ShrekFeast, a fun character breakfast held in the Villa de Flora restaurant, inside the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. The day started off pretty early with all of us piling into the Experience Kissimmee bus. As we walked from the bus to the restaurant, the excitement from the kids was clear. Just look at their faces. Oh, and how cute are Jonathan’s little fireman rainboots?
The buffet was pretty incredible. There must have been seven or eight different stations. The breads were incredible, the fruit was fresh, and the omelet bar was very nice. My favorite station, though, was definitely the cured meats. I really developed a taste for those meats at breakfast during my trip to Chile in April. The Shrek theme made it a really fun experience. We had a great introduction inviting all of us, kids especially, to be disgusting with our eating. We learned the ogre salute and even got green “ogre juice”! Overall, the breakfast was a great, fun way to fuel up for a busy day.
When Shrek made his appearance, everything stopped! Everyone wanted a chance for the photo opp with Shrek and Princess Fiona. My kids were pretty jealous that I got to go to it without them. When we finally make a trip down there as a family, we will definitely have to make this breakfast a priority.
Once breakfast and the excitement of meeting with Shrek had passed, I took an opportunity to walk around the Gaylord Palms a little. They have a lovely koi pond with waterfalls, beautiful flowers, and greenery. It was a great opportunity for some of the parents to have a little quiet time with their little ones and for the little ones to make some friends. The joy of splashing in the water is something that all kids have in common, isn’t it? Even the adults were having a great time.
This breakfast really started the day off right. The kids were excited and raring to go and the adults got the energy that they needed to keep up! Where were we on the go to? You’ll have to stay tuned to find out!
Would you love to meet Shrek or Princess Fiona? Would you rather just hang out at the koi pond and take in the beautiful scenery? Leave a comment and let us know.
