Arabian Nights: The American Princess Dinner Theater Show

Thank you to Experience Kissimmee for making this experience with The American Princess possible. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dinner and a movie is fine, but you can do that anywhere.  When I take my family on vacation, I want to do something a little special.  One really neat opportunity in Kissimmee is the Arabian Nights dinner theater.  How often do you get to have dinner while watching a show with incredibly trained horses and riders?  It’s definitely not something that goes on everyday where we live.

The current show is called The American Princess.  It is the story of an American champion rider who finds out that she is really Princess Scheherazade.  With the help of her genie, she travels around the world to find a prince who loves horses as much as she does.  They travel to Europe, Latin America, a Gypsy camp, and to the U.S., before finally finding her Prince Khalid.

The horses are just beautiful and are so well trained, it’s ridiculous.

The American Princess

This was a stirring tribute to the American West.  To see the horses dancing with their riders was pretty cool.  I would imagine that training one horse is hard enough, but training two to work in tandem just seems like it would be incredibly difficult.  I was thoroughly impressed.

Arabian Nights-7

I find some days that I have trouble standing on solid ground.  Can you imagine how tough it would be to stand on this horse as it runs around the ring?

Arabian Nights-5

What about jumping off of the horse through a ring of fire and then landing back on him?  Impressive, right?

Arabian Nights-6

The show is fun with some great acrobatics and horsemanship.  To get the full experience, though, it is really worth opting for the VIP option.  You and your family get a chance to meet several of the riders and you get to see and pet some of the horses before the show.

Arabian Nights-3

The show is pretty magical, but seeing the kids faces as they got to get up close to the horses was just fantastic.

Arabian Nights-10

Even the adults get in on the fun as they get to live it up just like the kids.

Arabian Nights-2

The star of the show had to have been this beautiful black Arabian.  These horses are, apparently, pretty rare because, in the past, they were largely bred out in favor of the white Arabians that suffered the heat of the desert better.  Look how mystical this beauty is as it emerges from the smoke.  Amazing.

Arabian Nights-8

I am all about partaking in the experiences that are unique to an area.  The American Princess is one that you should not miss.  You are going out to eat anyhow.  You may as well make it something special.

Have you ever been to a dinner show like this?  How impressed were you?  Leave us a comment and let us know.

I’ve been to several dinner shows and I’ve actually been to this one. My favorite part was seeing the horses in their dressage. The story was a little corny, but I think all dinner shows are so it was ok, but the horses made the night!
