Will You Unplug On Mother’s Day? #SocialBlackout {spon}

#SocialBlackout Badge

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for MetLife. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

One of the most important things to me on special occasions is giving my full undivided attention to my loved ones and I hope for Mother’s Day they will do that for me.

There are very few things more frustrating to my kids than when I am busy returning emails, writing a post, or promoting it all over the web when they are asking me a question.  I admit, I can get into my own little world and when I am zoned in on work I tune out what’s going on around me.  If I didn’t I would not be able to focus.  However, I don’t want to do it so much that I am ignoring the ones I love most, or never give them the attention they deserve and need.  On the same token, it frustrates me to no end when I need my kids help with something or want to spend time chatting with them but they are more focused on the game they are playing.  That’s why as a family we try to shut down most evenings so we can just hang and chat.

For Mother’s Day I will be coming home from a social media trip and I hope that my kids are ready to give me their undivided attention.  I want to spend uninterrupted time with the ones who made me a mother.  The ones I could not imagine my life without.  So once I leave the event and come home, I will be joining forces with MetLife in their Social Media Blackout for Mother’s Day.  What exactly will it entail?  Glad you asked:

MetLife has created the #SocialBlackout movement, which challenges everyone to log off of social media on Mother’s Day (May 12th) and give Mom the time and attention she deserves!  Check out their facebook page for more information and join in the movement on the event page.  Also, if you join in and want to change your profile photos you can download the badge, seen above, here.

This Mother’s Day I want to give and get undivided attention when I get home from my event, so I will be unplugging and I am hoping that my family will as well.  It would be the perfect way to spend my special day with the ones who made me a mother as well as the awesome woman I call Mom.  Will you unplug on  Mother’s Day?

    I love the idea of a social blackout and think every single person should really make time to do this at least once a month (myself included). I’m not sure how I feel about it being on Mother’s Day since many families rely on social media to share photos and communicate.

    I hope I do!!

    We always unplug at the table. No phones, tablets, iPods, gameboys etc. are allowed at the dinner table. At least for an hour everyday we all concentrate on each other!

    I tried to unplug, but couldn’t help myself. It’s hard to break my daily habit of FB and instagram.
